LAHORE – The second video of a girl student being assaulted in a Lahore school has gone viral on social media before a sessions court granted anti-arrest bail to three female students for bullying and abusing a classmate.
The recent video, apparently shot on a handheld device, shows a group of girls groping a fellow student. As the video progressed, the accused girls dragged the victim to the floor and beat him with punches and kicks.
The video shared by several social media pages shows the blurred faces of students in what appears to be the hallway of an elite educational institution.
It all started with a video of students attacking a fellow student at an international school in Lahore, which angered many social media users and sparked strong reactions.
One of the girls is seen grabbing the victim’s hair and abusing him while forcing him to say “sorry” for what has yet to be independently confirmed. Another girl is seen humiliating the victim by kicking him in the forehead.
After the video was posted on social media, the Punjab Police, in a tweet, confirmed that a case has been registered against the perpetrators and raids have been launched to arrest them.
The students evade capture
Earlier in the day, a local court in the provincial capital granted remand to the students who allegedly tortured their classmates.
The petition was filed under section 498 of CRPC for grant of bail by Jannat Malik, Kainat Malik and Umaima Qaisar. The petitioner prayed the court to grant them anticipatory bail, alleging that they are involved in a “false, baseless and fabricated case”.
Lahore sessions court judge Zafar Iqbal granted the accused anti-arrest bail till January 30 and directed all the accused to furnish sureties worth Rs 50,000 each.
