A young student was severely beaten by a teacher in Okara’s Renala Khurd town for wearing a simple sweater, against the school’s dress code. This has angered parents and locals.
Waqar Ali, a teacher at a government primary school in Anwar Shaheed Colony, allegedly subjected the youth to corporal punishment for not following the school’s dress code.
When the student arrived home injured, parents and residents gathered in front of the school because of the rough treatment.
They shouted slogans against the teachers and demanded the higher authorities to investigate the incident.
The victim’s mother explained that the family is poor and cannot afford a new school sweater.
This incident highlights the need for adequate teacher training and guidelines for disciplinary measures. They should also consider poverty and economic inequality that may prevent students from following dress codes.
