School recruitment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is picking up speed, with some schools announcing up to 600 teaching jobs for the next academic year starting in August.
One of the educational institutions, whose name has not been disclosed, said it has more than 100 vacancies for the academic year 2023-24.
According to the details, popular schools that have advertised their vacancies include Taaleem, Gems Education, Aldar and many more. For example, a school called Uptown International School in Dubai needs a School Counselor, while Jebel Ali School in the metropolis is looking for a Secondary School Principal.
Aldar Academies also require a Head for their Ministry of Education department, while many schools have also advertised for leadership positions.
Requirements to become a teacher in UAE
One must have a teaching certificate to be eligible for this profession in the UAE. In addition, applicants must pass Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or any equivalent.
However, to become a subject matter expert, a teacher must have a degree that aligns with the subject.
According to Credence High School Principal Deepika Thapar Singh, teachers submit their CVs online to apply for the vacancies and those selected are called for interviews and live classroom teaching demonstrations where they will be judged on their skills.
As for the average salary of a teacher in the UAE, it is between AED 9,000-14,000 ($2,450-$3,800). May vary based on experience and qualifications.
