Fawad Ch, announces dissolution of Punjab, KP Assemblies after Elahi survives confidence motion

LAHORE – With the mercury sinking across Pakistan, political temperatures seem to be heating up in the country’s most populous Punjab region as the ruling PTI announces the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.

In a statement, Fawad Chaudhry, a senior PTI leader and close aide of Imran Khan said that CM Pervaiz Elahi got the required 186 votes and announced that the Punjab Assembly will be dissolved today on Thursday, in the first phase, however, he linked it to legal issues. .

He went on to say that the CP assembly will be dissolved in a second phase as the PTI chief demands fresh polls to end political uncertainty.

Fawad said the PML-N leaders are opting out of the assembly process, advising them to participate in the trust vote.

Flickering, he said that Rana Sanaullah and Ata Tarar left for the capital in the midst of rain.

Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi early on Thursday managed to secure a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting.

Meanwhile, the opposition boycotted the midnight session and announced it would challenge the late-night confidence vote in court.
