FBR exempts taxes, duties on imports of flood affected donation consignments

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has exempted sales tax, federal excise duty (FED) and income tax on import and supply of consignments of donations and relief items for flood relief operations for a period of three months.

As per S.R.O.70(I)/2023 issued by the FBR on Wednesday, the federal government has exempted for a period of three months from December 1, 2022, the import and procurement of donation consignments and relief items as certified by the National Disaster Management Authority or District Disaster Management Authority for flood relief business, from the total sales tax.

As per SRO.71(I)/2023, FBR has exempted for a period of three months from December 1, 2022, the entire Federal Excise Duty levied on consignment of donation and relief items as certified by the National Management Authority of Disasters or a District Disaster Management Authority for flood relief operation.

Under SRO.72(I)2023, the FBR amended the Second Schedule to the Income Tax Ordinance. In the aforesaid Schedule, in Part IV, in paragraph (123), for the words “ninety days” the expression “three months from the 1st December 2022” shall be substituted.
