The Career Related Program (CP) from the International Baccalaureate (IB) is officially recognized by the Pakistan Presidents Governing Commission (IBCC), Ministry of Education and is equivalent to the Science courses for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSSC) (Pre -Medical/Pre-Engineering Group) of Pakistan.
All students who have a Certificate of Secondary Education, or an equivalent qualification, will be eligible to study the CP.
Uzma Shujjat, IB Regional Director for Pakistan, said: “We are delighted with the news that CP is now officially recognized in both humanitarian and scientific groups across Pakistan. This recognition opens up new opportunities for CP students in Pakistan to join higher education, including medical and engineering colleges.
The CP is specifically designed for students aged 16-19 who wish to engage in career-related learning while continuing to acquire transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication and intercultural engagement.
It is an innovative combination of academic studies and career skills that integrates the vision and educational principles of the IB into a unique program.
The CP’s three-part framework includes the study of at least two Diploma Program (DP) courses alongside the CP core characteristic and a career-related study.
Universities around the world value a CP student for a number of reasons, including their ability to manage a demanding and varied workload while offering the appropriate level of academic knowledge and understanding.
CP is now equivalent to Higher Secondary Certificate (Humanities and Science Group) in Pakistan.
