KARACHI: At least five robbers were arrested in an alleged encounter with police near University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, ARY News reported.
According to details, the police arrested five injured robbers after an exchange of fire.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused robbers were robbing an auto driver on University Road when the police intercepted them.
The police recovered weapons and seized mobile phones from the possession of the robbers.
Earlier this month, the police claimed to have arrested two suspected robbers in injured condition for their alleged involvement in the killing of a citizen during a robbery attempt in Nazimabad district.
A raid was conducted to arrest the suspects who opened fire on the raiding party. “During the exchange of fire, the suspects were captured with injuries.” They said mobile phones, a motorcycle and weapons were found in their possession.
The suspects engaged in a shootout during a robbery in Nazimabad, killing a man named Shakir Ali. The victim’s brother filed a homicide case against the suspects.
In addition, police arrested two suspects after a chase near Kati Pahari area in Karachi’s West District as they tried to flee after a robbery.
According to the police, the two suspects were arrested with injuries and weapons were also found in their possession.
“The two alleged robbers looted a citizen and were fleeing from the spot when a patrol team intercepted them and after a chase arrested them near Kati Pahari area,” they said.
In their possession the officers also found a pistol, mobile phone and cash.
