Elahi says he has old ties to Fawad’s family.
“It would have been better if he had been arrested earlier,” Elahi had said.
Imran’s close aides have struck at PTI’s roots, the PMl-Q leader had said.
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and former prime minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on Thursday apologized for making offensive comments against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry.

The PML-Q leader apologized on Twitter for his comments saying he has old ties with Fawad’s family. He added that his comments hurt the feelings of Fawad’s family for which he is sorry.
Earlier on Thursday, without naming anyone, Elahi received close aides of PTI chief Imran Khan. Alluding to the recent arrest of Fawad Chaudhry, he said it would have been better if he had been arrested earlier.
Ealhi, addressing a function, said, “Imran Khan’s close aides hit the roots of PTI. One in four or five people who are close to Khan have been arrested. Things would have been better if he had been arrested earlier.”
The former Punjab chief minister said he had urged the PTI chief not to dissolve the Punjab Assembly but he did not listen to him. Now PTI was facing the consequences.
The politics of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) would have been buried if he worked for one more year, Elahi added. People who were tested on May 25 did not need to be tested, he added. Ealhi said the MPAs who got more funds raised nuances by pressuring the PTI chief to dissolve the assembly. Elahi claimed to have done five years of work in a short span of five and a half months.
Elahi said he became the chief minister by the grace of Allah and the trust of the PTI chief, adding that Imran Khan is the most popular leader of Pakistan.
The veteran politician said he had Khan on the ramifications of the dissolution, saying the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would victimize them (PTI and PMLQ).
Elahi pointed his guns at caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi, saying “You will not return home? Do good deeds so that people will remember you.”
Separately, in an audio chat, which went viral on social media, the former CM was heard using abusive language against Fawad Chaudhry for advocating the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
Meanwhile, PML-N senior leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif said what Pervaiz Elahi said about Fawad Chaudhry was unfortunate. He said PTI should refute Imran Khan’s decision to work with PML-Q.
