Robert Kaproth, the US Treasury Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, on Wednesday extended his support and cooperation to Pakistan on economic and financial issues.
The Deputy Assistant Secretary called on the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Ishaq Dar at the Department of Finance.
The minister informed Kaproth about the economic prospects of the country. He informed that the present government inherited a weak economic legacy and added that despite the difficult economic conditions, the government is focused on correcting things in the right direction and introducing reforms in all sectors, including the energy sector and the capital market to achieve economic development.
The minister shared with Kaproth the damage caused by the floods in Pakistan and its impact on Pakistan’s economy. He emphasized that the government is facing all challenges with absolute commitment.
Kaproth underlined the good relations between Pakistan and the United States and expressed confidence in the government’s policies and programs for economic and financial stability.
The meeting was also attended by Senior Macro Economist for the Ministry of Finance for Pakistan Eva Ghirmai, Economic Attache Larita Bolden, Minister of Finance and Revenue Dr. Aisha Ghous Pasha, SAPM for Finance Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Finance and senior officials of the Finance department.
